Meet the Breeder
Hello, I’m Patricia, founder of HolistiCats!
Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was raised in a family deeply involved in the cat fancy, where breeding, animal care, and feline wellbeing were part of everyday life. My mother bred Siamese and Abyssinian cats when I was a child, and one of her kittens was even purchased by James Earl Jones early in his acting career. Growing up in that environment fostered a lifelong love of animals and laid the foundation for the work I do today.
For more than 30 years, I have been dedicated to holistic wellness and species-appropriate care for companion animals. Long before fresh feeding became widely discussed, I was preparing homemade raw and fresh-food diets for my own pets. Throughout the decades, I have seen firsthand the remarkable impact that proper nutrition, low-stress living, and thoughtful care can have on health, vitality, resilience, and longevity.
I hold a certificate in Animal Naturopathy and have spent many years independently studying animal nutrition, natural health, homeopathy, and holistic animal care. I continue to learn and deepen my understanding, but the foundational principles that guide my approach have never changed. True wellness is rooted in nature. The biological needs of cats today are the same as they were thousands of years ago, and I believe that honoring those needs remains one of the most important things we can do for their health.
While modern products, trends, and marketing continue to evolve, the fundamentals of animal wellness remain remarkably consistent. Cats thrive when they are nourished with species-appropriate foods, provided with a clean and enriching environment, allowed to express their natural behaviors, and supported in ways that work with their biology rather than against it. My philosophy has always been centered on those timeless principles.
Many years ago, I chose to move away from highly processed commercial pet foods and instead focus on fresh, natural nutrition. Today, I continue to source ingredients whenever possible from local farmers and livestock producers. I carefully prepare, grind, and formulate meals using high-quality ingredients and thoughtfully selected supplements to support optimal feline health and development.
My goal is to minimize unnecessary exposures to modern toxins, artificial ingredients, excessive processing, and other environmental stressors whenever possiblel. I believe that supporting the body through nutrition, environment, and preventative wellness creates the strongest foundation for lifelong health.
After working with many different animals throughout my life, I ultimately chose to focus on Ragdolls because of their extraordinary temperament, and soft, fluffy coats. Their gentle, affectionate, and trusting nature is truly special. Ragdolls are known for their calm, even-keeled disposition and their ability to form deep bonds with their families. Over the years, I have found them to be one of the most loving and rewarding companions to share my home with.
At HolistiCats, our cats are family members first. They live in our home, not in cages or separate buildings. Our kittens are born and raised underfoot, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and rhythms of everyday family life. They receive abundant affection, handling, socialization, and enrichment from the very beginning, helping them develop into confident, well-adjusted companions.
Our household is shared not only with our cats, but also with our beloved dachshund, Wolf—our resident “Holistic Hound.” Because the kittens grow up alongside a friendly family dog, they become accustomed to respectful canine companionship from an early age. This exposure helps create adaptable, confident kittens who are comfortable in a variety of family environments.
My son, Sol, has grown up alongside our feline friends, and plays an important role in their daily socialization. Through gentle interaction and companionship, our kittens become familiar with respectful human relationships from an early age.
I am incredibly proud of the health, temperament, and quality of the cats we raise. My goal is not simply to produce beautiful Ragdolls, but to nurture healthy, confident companions who will thrive as beloved members of their families for many years to come.
For me, breeding is about far more than producing kittens—it is about stewarding health, preserving temperament, and giving each kitten the strongest possible foundation for a long, vibrant life.
Why We Love Ragdolls
Ragdolls are known for their gentle, affectionate, and easygoing nature, making them a wonderful fit for a wide variety of homes. Whether you're a first-time cat owner, a family with children, a retiree looking for companionship, or an experienced cat enthusiast, the Ragdoll's adaptable temperament makes them one of the most universally loved cat breeds.
In addition to their exceptional temperament, Ragdolls are strikingly beautiful cats. They are known for their brilliant blue eyes, semi-long silky coats, and large, sturdy build. Despite their luxurious appearance, their coats are surprisingly low-maintenance compared to many long-haired breeds, as they tend to mat less easily. Many people describe the Ragdoll coat as feeling soft and plush, almost rabbit-like to the touch.
They are often described as "puppy-like" because they genuinely enjoy being around their people. Many Ragdolls will follow their families from room to room, greet them at the door, and happily participate in daily life rather than observing from a distance.
While every cat is an individual, Ragdolls are generally social, loving, and eager to be part of the family. If you're looking for a companion who enjoys both playtime and cuddle time, a Ragdoll may be the perfect fit.
